Autism is a group of complexed disorders of brain development.  Autism disorder has a large spectrum and effects people in varying degrees.  The disorders are characterized by verbal and non-verbal communication difficulties as well as trouble with social interaction.  As you read further you will be provided additional characteristics, assessments (strategies on working with students who have autism), and resources available for help.
