Special Education Resources
Mission: the mission of this site is to provide users with various special education resources. This can be used by teachers, parents, and
college students to help in understanding disabilities, gathering information on assessments and qualifications, utilizing effective
instructional strategies, and provide assistance in answering frequently asked questions.
By pressing any button above you will be brought to that page for detailed information on the disability you are looking to gather information on.
Categories: There are 13 categories of special education as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). I've also
added At-Risk, English Language Learners, and Gifted for a comprehensive list. In order to qualify for special education, the IEP team
must determine that a child has one of the following:
At-Risk Intellectual Disability
Autism Multiple Disabilities
Blindess Orthopedic Impairement
Deafness Other Health Impaired
English Language Learners Specific Learning Disability
Emotional Disturbance Speech or Language Impairment
Gifted Traumatic Brain Injury
